Privacy
Short version: we run no advertising trackers and we sell nothing to anybody. We do measure how the site gets read. Two tools run on the page and one of them sets a cookie, and we read the search reports Google and Microsoft already keep about us. The only personal information we hold is what you typed into a form on this site, and you can have it deleted by asking.

Measuring the site
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views and tells us which pages get read, roughly where in the world readers are, and what kind of device they're on. It's cookieless: it stores nothing on your device, it doesn't build a profile of you, and it can't follow you to any other site. It's switched on at the Cloudflare edge rather than by a script in this site's code, and the counter itself is served from static.cloudflareinsights.com.
We also use Google Analytics 4, which does more than count. It tells us how people move through the site, which episodes and guides hold attention, and where readers arrived from. It's loaded from googletagmanager.com, and unlike the counter above, it does set cookies on your device so it can tell a returning reader from a new one. Google receives your IP address as part of that, and what Google then does with it is governed by Google's own privacy policy. We use it to understand the site, not to advertise to you: we don't run ads here, and we don't build advertising audiences out of it.
We also use Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, and they work differently enough to be worth separating. Neither one runs any code in your browser and neither can see you visit. They report on what Google and Microsoft had already recorded in their own search results, and they show it to us in aggregate: which queries the site turned up for, how often somebody clicked, and which pages the search engines had trouble reading. Nothing in either tool identifies an individual reader to us, and blocking a tracker has no effect on them, because there's nothing on the page to block.
If you'd rather not be counted, a browser that blocks trackers, a "do not track" setting or an ad blocker will stop the two tools above that do run on the page, and nothing on this site breaks when you do.
What we don't do
No Meta pixel, no heatmaps, no session recording, no advertising cookies, no retargeting. We don't sell, rent or share your details with anyone for marketing. The site search runs entirely in your browser and sends your search terms nowhere.
What we collect, and only if you hand it over
If you join the email list, we store your email address, which page you subscribed from, the country your request came from, your browser's user agent string, and the dates the record was created and changed. Every record also carries a private unsubscribe token, which is never displayed anywhere and never included in an export.
If you use the "be a guest" form, we store your name, email address, service branch, current role and whatever you wrote in the message box, along with the same country, user agent and timestamps. Our own notes on your submission are stored against it too.
If you're an invited guest and complete the intake form, we store the details needed to produce your episode: your name, what you'd like to be called, email, phone number, service branch, specialty, current role, LinkedIn, the certifications you hold, a headshot, and the date you gave recording consent. Guest headshots are stored where the public web cannot reach them, and that restriction is enforced in code rather than by convention.
Spam protection
Every form on the site is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a submission came from a person rather than a script. Cloudflare processes your IP address and some browser signals to make that decision. Turnstile is used instead of a CAPTCHA that profiles you across sites, and on most visits it shows nothing at all.
Where it's stored, and by whom
This site runs on Cloudflare. Pages, media and form data are held in Cloudflare's Workers, D1 and R2 services, and Cloudflare keeps the standard edge logs any web host keeps. Guest and subscriber records sit in a database that only the two hosts can reach, behind Cloudflare Zero Trust with a second identity check in the application itself.
Our email runs on Cloudflare Email Routing, so mail sent to podcast@veteransinprojectmanagement.com is forwarded to a host's mailbox.
Fonts
The typefaces are served from this site, so loading a page doesn't contact anyone else for them. Until August 27, 2026 they came from Google Fonts, which meant your browser contacted Google's servers and Google received your IP address on every page view. That's no longer the case. Google Analytics is a separate thing and is still here, described under "Measuring the site".
Podcast apps and third-party platforms
If you listen through Apple Podcasts, Spotify or any other app, that app's privacy policy governs what it collects, and we have no visibility into it beyond aggregate download counts. Links out of this site, including sponsor links, take you to organizations with their own policies. Some of them lead to businesses owned by the hosts, or to ones we hold a commercial interest in, which the footer of every page says as well. We don't currently log clicks on those links.
How long we keep it
Subscriber and inquiry records are kept until you ask us to remove them, or until they're plainly stale. Guest records for published episodes are kept as production records for as long as the episode exists.
Getting removed
Every list email carries a one-click unsubscribe. For anything else, including a full deletion, email podcast@veteransinprojectmanagement.com and say what you want removed. We'll do it and tell you when it's done. You don't need to give a reason.
Published episodes are the one exception worth being straight about. Once an episode is public it has been distributed to podcast apps and directories that we don't control, so a recording can be withdrawn from this site but cannot be recalled from every app that already downloaded it.
Children
This site is aimed at serving and former service members and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
